Our customer required an automated packaging solution capable of handling significant fluctuations in production, including high-demand periods during the early morning and late afternoon. The system needed to maintain throughput, packaging consistency and operational efficiency, even during these peak times.
FROMM engineered a fully automated solution that uses intelligent sensors to detect when mixed packs enter the line, automatically adjusting the packaging cycle without the need for manual intervention. This ensures consistent performance regardless of product mix or production volume.
To maximise throughput, the system is designed to accommodate up to three packs on the line simultaneously. Forklift operators at either end of the line can load and unload independently, enabling a continuous packaging process with minimal waiting time. By automating the packaging operation, operators are free to focus on other value-added tasks, improving productivity, reducing bottlenecks and increasing overall operational efficiency.

This installation features FROMM PM Series Automatic Strapping Machines working in conjunction with an FS500 Rotary Arm Stretch Wrapper, delivering fast, reliable and consistent end-of-line packaging with minimal operator intervention.
FROMM engineered a high-performance automated stretch wrapping system capable of processing two pallets loaded side by side. The conveyor system automatically separates each pallet and routes it through the wrapper, where customer-defined wrapping recipes are applied to ensure consistent load containment and reliable packaging quality.
To meet the customer's throughput requirements, the rotary arm wrapper was equipped with two film carriages mounted on a single rotating arm, effectively doubling wrapping capacity while maintaining consistent film application. On the discharge side, the system allows forklift operators to remove either two pallets simultaneously or a single pallet as required, ensuring a smooth and efficient material flow.
The dual-carriage configuration also simplifies film roll changes. With both carriages positioned on the same side of the conveyor, operators can replace both film rolls safely and conveniently from one location, eliminating the need to cross or reach over conveyors while improving both safety and maintenance efficiency.
FROMM engineered a twin-carriage turntable stretch wrapping system that provided the necessary load height clearance while meeting the customer's throughput requirements. The machine was equipped with a specialist photoelectric sensor capable of reliably detecting black crates, ensuring accurate automatic operation, while an automatic film wipe and cut system delivered a secure film tail for improved load stability during transport.
As part of the project, FROMM also supplied the complete conveyor system, delivering a fully integrated end-of-line packaging solution. Working closely with the customer throughout the project, we helped achieve their objective of 80% automation, significantly increasing throughput, reducing operator intervention and minimising human error while improving overall health and safety performance.
Automatic inline strapping solution for timber packs featuring the FROMM MH550 Strapping Head, bearer (aka bunk) feeding system and Turntable Jumbo Coil Dispenser (eye to the sky). Compatible with 9-19 mm PET strap, the modular MH550 can be integrated into all FROMM automated systems. Its strap-friendly design and proven separate feeding, tensioning and friction-weld sealing systems deliver reliable performance, low maintenance and maximum uptime.
Our customer had two production lines feeding a single pallet collection point, where paint tins and drums were removed by forklift and transported to a separate wrapping area. As pallets were moved before being wrapped, loads were shifting in transit, resulting in product damage, customer claims and costly returns.
FROMM designed a fully integrated conveyor system to transfer pallets directly from both production lines to an automated stretch wrapping machine. Equipped with a top platen, the system stabilised each load during the wrapping cycle to ensure secure, consistent load containment before transport.
The installation included conveyors, a comprehensive safety system, an integrated stretch wrapper with top platen, and an automatic film weld unit to secure the film tail, preventing the stretch wrap from unravelling during handling and distribution.

FROMM engineered an FA380 Automated Wrapping System that allows pallets to be loaded by Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR). The loaded pallet is picked up from the palletizing robot by an AMR before being transported to the FA380 where it enters one side to the wrapping point and finally exits at the other side.
